Low Power 36V, 600mA, Buck DC/DC Converter

The XC9704/05 is a synchronous step-down DC/DC with P-Ch High Side Switch to ensure low voltage operation with 100% max duty ratio. It can operate from 3.0V~36.0V and deliver loads up to 600mA making it an ideal replacement for inefficient Linear Regulators used in many industrial applications.

Designed for very high efficiencies at low output loads, with low quiescent current, the XC9704/05 also works with Low ESR ceramic capacitors and comes with a choice of two switching frequencies, adjustable soft start and a power good output.

Available in the ultra-small USP-6C package, measuring only 2.0 x 1.8 x 0.6mm an extremely small DC/DC circuit can be implemented with a minimal number of external components.

The XC9704/05 includes a fold-back type current limit circuit, and the IC will automatically resume normal operating as soon as the over-current condition disappears

STABLE OUTPUT VOLTAGE SUPPLY EVEN WHEN THE INPUT VOLTAGE DROPS

Supports 100% duty cycle and maintains a high output voltage even when the input voltage drops.

Features of 100% Max Duty Support
    ・ Even if the input voltage is close to the output voltage,
there is no drop in the output voltage. 
    ・ When the input voltage is lower than the set output voltage, the input voltage is passed through to the output and the output voltage is maintained as high as possible.

Even with “load fluctuations/induction in motors, etc.” and “large fluctuations in power supply due to input impedance” the output is maintained as high as possible.

Contributes to preventing system shutdown and maintaining the system due to low power supply voltage.

APPLICATION CIRCUIT EXAMPLE

The XC9704/05 steps down from 12V/24V to 5V and a additional DC/DC or LDO are used to generate lower voltages from the 5V rail to power the MCU and sensor(s). Power source sequence control is possible, the PG (Power Good) function can be used to drive the latter-stage IC after the output voltage rises. 

The XC6138N Supervisor IC is used to monitor the 12V/24V power line
