Torex Semiconductor Ltd has announced a new capital alliance with Novel Crystal Technology Co., Ltd. in Japan (https://www.novelcrystal.co.jp/eng/).
Novel Crystal Technology is a venture company that was strategically carved out from Tamura Corporation and is a technology transfer venture of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT).
It is engaged in the development, manufacture, and sale of β-type gallium oxide (β-Ga2O3) single crystal substrates and epitaxial wafers, as well as the development of power devices. This capital alliance is aimed at further expanding the business.
β-Ga2O3 is a new semiconductor material for power devices and Novel Crystal Technology claim it offers larger band-gap energy when compared with SiC and GaN and they believe it will be less expensive to produce.
This investment means Torex Semiconductor Ltd becomes a small shareholder in Novel Crystal Technology Co., Ltd.
